Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

Thanks for the link, Bruce! France and Belgium have always been at the forefront of graphic novels and comics. I basically grew up on a diet of them! I mentioned Asterix earlier and of course I read them but my thing was really the aviation comics: Dan Cooper, Tanguy & Laverdure and of course Bu...

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

Glad you like WAR! Yes, it's Alt46 but recently he's adding Alt 19 with tracked bikes and monowheels! I'm looking forward to those as well as a 46 hover bike he's got in the works! Bringing up Vercingetorix should tickle my national pride (M stands for Michel, ya know!) but as a matter of fact I pre...

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

Thanks Mustang and Bruce, glad you like the techniques. Bruce, I agree. Let's keep the outcome in view rather than being partisan for one method or another. And now let's give back to caesar what belongs to caesar. The oil technique I used as a base was kindly given to me by my good friend and maste...

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

No apologies needed, I’m glad the thread enlivened your breakfast! As to the old methods vs new, I’m not going to rekindle the debate but let’s just ay that I consider myself to be somewhere in the middle of the 2 extremes.

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

Thank you all for the nice words!

@Mostrich, AK et al are convenient but do nothing that good ol' oil and enamel paints won't do. The trick is to always use them over acrylics (and vice versa) so mistakes can be wiped off without removing the previous work.

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

I started work on the launcher with the pole. https://i.imgur.com/jhoeubL.jpg First a base coat of Gunze H66 Sandy Brown was applied. Then for the wood effect, Vandyke Brown oil paint was applied straight from the tube, no thinning, and then smeared and partially removed with a dry, clean soft brush...

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

All the best to you, M! Looking forward to your updates! Thanks speedgraflex! Here are the boosters! After assembly the round front part was cut and sanded flat as can been seen on some of the Natter photos, the main reason being to make it easier to apply the decals in that area. https://i.imgur.c...

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

Thank you all for the nice words! Glad you like it! Your work is beautiful! I wanted to ask why there are no rocket clusters (9 on the illustration)? Is this perhaps the difference between 349A and 349? Thanks in advance! Looking forward to the diorama elements next. And thank you very much for your...

Re: Ba 349 Natter 1/48 DML

The airframe is finished! https://i.imgur.com/v83EWkI.jpg After sealing the decals with a coat of Future, I continued with the next steps. I used Tamiya X-19 Smoke for shading purposes, accentuating the overhead lighting effect where needed e.g. on the darker upper side, picking up panel line shadin...
