Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Now that the error has been corrected, I can start to re-do the masked markings. Comparing with the decal to make sure the size is right! https://i.postimg.cc/7Y3QLcjZ/IMG-5944.jpg I've also decided to do the small 2-color aircraft codes on the fuselage at the same time as the underwing codes. https...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
I masked off a finite area containing the errant markings to rubbed down. This will protect the surrounding areas and saving me from additional re-painting. Using Micro Mesh #6000, the black areas are rubbed away. Complete removal is not necessary but I want to make sure that there are no paint edge...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Thanks guys! Appreciate the feedback! I've read that the Eduard decals have a weird feature. Apparently the clear carrier film can be removed, leaving only the decal pigment on the model. The instructions make no mention of this so it may be unintentional on Eduard's part but I wanted to check this ...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Time to put some chipping on the black walkways. I just use a stiff-bristled paint brush dipped in water and start gently rubbing the brush back and forth on the black area. As the water soaks through the paint, it dissolves the hairspray layer and causes small fragments of paint to lift off the mod...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Thank you! Painting continues with black ID markings on fuselage and wing tips. I've used a 50/50 mix of Tamiya Nato Black and Tamiya Black. https://i.postimg.cc/B6YsyXBk/IMG-5897.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/rsDcLMhm/IMG-5898.jpg I'm not sure you can see it but here is a glimpse of some of the texture ...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Thanks guys! The painting continues. In the process of masking off panels to paint in a different metallic shade, I found that the adhesive from the Post-Its I was using reacted with the AK Extreme Metal White Aluminum in certain areas. So I sprayed on a layer of clear gloss (Tamiya LP-9) and them b...

Very nice work on the engine mods! Must be nice to able to print those needed parts. Scratching up those tear drop distributors would be a pain.

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Thanks guys! Seam work is one of those thankless jobs that we modelers have to deal with. It's important enough, from a presentation perspective, to spend a little extra time to make those noticeable joints disappear as much as possible. The brass flap inserts have been glued into place using extra t...
