Talk about anything modeling: kits, tools, paint, etc...

Having spent quite some time on what colour brand to use I decided to go with Revell 045. I have a very useful App on my iPhone, iModel Kit Free.

This App has lots of colour matches from more brands that I ever knew of, and here I found that Revell 045 is a quite good match for the British WWII Olive Drab.

I also found two bottles of this Revell colour in my stash. One is copyrighted 1981! The other one seems to be even older, according to the label. Will see if they still can be used.

I have Xtracolors SCC 15 Olive Drab and Revell's 45 Light Olive in my paint collection. The two colors are nothing alike aside from both being shades of green. The Revell color is far lighter in shade and more grayish. I am not sure what Revell color would be a good match, or is even anywhere close.

Carlos, any chance to get me the X-number of SCC15? Much easier to search for it this way...

Xtracolor X816 seems to be as rare as hen´s teeth here in Germany. For this I decided to got the Mike Starmer way:
Mike Starmer Tamiya mix - 5 pts XF 61 + 2pts XF62 + 2 pts XF3
Mixed a test quantity in Gunze Levelling Thinner and applied a little bit to the bottom of the hull. Curious how it will look when dry.

Im sure that it will look better than the Revell color suggestion. Here is the Tamiya Cromwell that I built a few years back. That is the Xtracolor paint on the tank and the Revell color for the crew uniforms as base colors. As you can see they are quite different.

That is Humbrol Khaki Drab on the Jerry Cans on the engine deck. A bit too light compared to the Xtracolor shade.
