New Airfix 1/72 Vulcan in 2020

Post by Stuart »

Probably not a great deal of interest to you guys over here, but Airfix announced at SMW this weekend a new tool Vulcan for next year, complete with Blue Steel. Now we have the full trio of V-bombers in 1/72.

:hmm: Might need to start buying/building them!

Looks like it might be rather good!

Oh that is beautiful. Kits like this make me wish that I still built 1/72. Lovely to look at, but not my cup of tea. But I know a certain fellow here who specializes in all things 1/72 and I suspect will want one of these...

Been wanting to do the Vulcan kit. Looks like I'll be watching out for in at my Hobby Lobby some point next year.

Stuart, a Suez Hunter is very much my cup of tea... with a shot of Irish whiskey

I can’t wait for that one to hit the stores...

Nice, makes me think of the Black Buck Missions flown during the Falklands War by Martin Withers. Can’t believe we are coming up on 38 years ago for that one.

I was on strike from my job at that time and followed the war on CNN I think, the first real conflict I was able to follow.

I'll coffee with my Whiskey :lashed:

I'd very much like to have another got at a hunter - Alas the Academy kit I tired earlier in the year was a bit of a failure. I'd be interested to see if the Airfix kit is any better....

Yes, that was a very active time in the world. First the Falklands/Malvinas War, and then the Israeli invasion of Lebanon as the Falklands War was winding down. The Bekaa Valley ground and air battles were of great interest with the newest US fighters going up against the new generation of Migs.

If the new Airfix Hunter is at the same level of quality as the rest of their new tool stuff, it will be super. And far superior to the Academy kit. They screwed up the cockpit quite a bit by making it underscale. Such a shame, as the Hunter is such a beauty of an aircraft.

Good man, on your whiskey and coffee. Cheers mate!
