Very cool scheme. Make sure you get the correct F-16. The Colts version has the small mouth intake. Not all F-16s are alike. I have several F-16 special scheme decal sets and each are for different F-16s versions. You have A, AM, B, C, CJ, etc... Block 15, 20, etc...
I have pretty much have most of them I need.

F16.net is a great site for most everything that you could want to know about F-16s.

Are you going to use the kit Coral Sea markings, or go with some Midway markings?

Side note, the new Midway movie made me think about something that I hadn’t before, the casualties for the Enterprise’s SBD squadrons. They launched 36 for the morning strike. In the evening strike against Hiryu, there were 24 launched from Enterprise. 14 of those were orphans from Yorktown that had landed on Enterprise while Yorktown was under attack. Enterprise had 10 left of 36 launched that morning, over 2/3 of VS-6 and VB-6 aircraft were lost in the morning strike. Add to that the loss of 10 of 14 TBDs from VT-6. Only 14 of 50 bomber aircraft launched that morning returned to their ship. Mind you, some of those missing aircrew were rescued, but those are still quite sobering loss rates.

I have decals for Dick Bests mount on the way. The attrition in those early days of the war surely raised eyebrows. Hence the great bombers and fighters later in the war. The devastator numbers were terrible - btw I have the GWH kit :)

Excellent choice for markings!

Really the TBD only had one bad day, June 4 at Midway. At Coral Sea none we’re lost to enemy action, and during all of the hit and run raids between December 7 and Coral Sea, all TBD losses were due to getting lost and/or running out of fuel. But mostly un escorted flying against the best naval fighter flown by the most combat experienced naval fighter pilots in the world that morning... SBD losses were heavier in all the previous actions.

Interesting. I figured between the bad torpedoes and tiny motor they were outdated by 42.
