Yeah. When I graduated film school I was hired to write a script on spec about a fella who lived in a renovated Atlas E missile silo in Kansas and made LSD, one of the largest manufacturers of LSD in the USA at the time. He is now serving two life sentences, I believe. Yeah. "Prior to his arrest, Pickard was deputy director of University of California, Los Angeles' Drug Policy Research Program. In high school, he was an honors student, played basketball, and was named 'most intellectual.' He earned a scholarship to Princeton University, but dropped out after one term, instead preferring to hang out at Greenwich Village jazz clubs." When you write "on spec," there is usually no money upfront, so you have to have something resembling job security in addition to your writing work. I didn't so I didn't take on the job.
