D&D Map Table

Post by Floki »

So some friends and I have started playing D&D again, technically we are playing Pathfinder. We was talking about using a 40" LED tv for the maps well I decided to step it up a bit more. We still needed a proper table to play on and I had the room in my library. I forgot to take more in process shots but here is some from the end.
This is after it's been all built up sanded, stained, sanded, polyurethane, sanded, polyurethane again, a final sanding with 1000grit, then a coat of Murphy's Oil Soap.

Here is after the felt is all down

I built a flat oak table top that locks down on top of this as well but don't have any photos of it.
We use Dynamic Dungeons Live maps that are really cool with movement and sound, if you play D&D go check them out over on Patreon.

Lastly here is a short video of the table
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall

That is some nice carpentry work! Never played the game and have no interest in it (i'm old and dull), but that is a nice set up for you guys.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Nice! That is turning out beautifully!

That is gorgeous work, Clint. An ingenious design too—the green felt adds just the right touch of class. I have not played D&D in years. My gaming conceit is a weekly chess game series with my buddy Matt on Wednesday nights. We go to a wonderful and now somewhat rare “retro” 1950s diner called Cafe 50s which may be the last place to play a quiet game of chess but that’s kind of the point. Nothing sharpens the concentration to play a game like tuning out loud music and walls papered over with ads and posters; not to mention the kinds of “Weird-Ohs” who show up. Last Wednesday the fellas behind me were talking up a blue streak about respective prison stays. Well that’s neither here nor there, really. Seeing this beautiful setup reminds me of childhood!

Love that scene. DeNiro and Pacino just talked about doing that scene in an L.A. Times interview. As a whole, that film is the best visual guide to Los Angeles next to “Collateral.” I love “Collateral” because Tom Cruise is so good playing the Terminator.

Correct Thomas, D & D is the game Dungeons & Dragons.
