Re: SPAM Temporary Period of Inactivity?
I was going to answer this thread as soon as possible but I unfortunately was becoming quite sick from food poisoning, and about to call an Uber to take me to UCLA for tests. I basically spent my birthday morning in the ER. I was glad to be freed of that place, then turned homeward to find my bed and slept for about twelve hours.
When I woke up I had a good “think” about the question you asked, but feeling like a dry cell battery that has been completely reduced, I had no strength to type a reply. Now, after a few days of utter quietude, most of which I have spent in bed resting, sipping water, eating Jello and applesauce, I am somewhat ambulatory.
I think the easiest answer is your answer; and it is certainly correct: there are just periods of inactivity for everyone, and there are periods where attentions are elsewhere, but there also remains a fixed spot for each of us on a particular subject and builders of said subjects will always be of the most minute interest.
The more complex answer for me is that we all are transitioning on and off various life periods as well as modeling projects, we tend to find ourselves occasionally in the doldrums, or as I hear it from modelers, we suffer loss of “mojo.” I don’t understand that term personally, but I look at model building as a calling of sorts, and one that takes managing on many levels to completely integrate into our transitioning lives. In a way model building feels a bit like hopping on and off moving freight cars at a switch yard. Last week I was in Lincoln Heights and near the tracks which serve Los Angeles and it was dusk and the rail lines led onward in so many patterns I thought it was incredibly lifelike, a metal organism. For me, the time spent modeling is a great way to suspend ourselves in different moments in our own lives and really focus on what makes us who we are as individuals. Whatever comes from that will be part of us going forward.

Ouch Bruce - I'm really sorry to hear that!
I hope you're feeling better now my friend. I've had severe food poisoning myself and like you it knocked me out for days - I'll be thinking of you.

Bruce, glad that you are feeling better. Not a pleasant thing on any occasion, either.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
Re: SPAM Temporary Period of Inactivity?
Hope you get back to 100% soon Bruce.
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall

Thanks, all. I didn’t want to interrupt this thread with my tale of woe, but I was just reading John’s first post when this hit full force.

Thanks for checking in and hope you feel better Bruce. My wife got food poisoning a few days ago also and she did not have a pleasant 24 hours.
