All Y’all’s work and other random stuff.

Post by LyleW »

Looking at the work of our members is just mind blowing. Tiny PE assemblies that I could not do in 1/16 scale, body/paint work on cars...better than real, details on ships, aircraft...wow, camo on planes..amazing, the aftermarket additions, all of this just leaves me speechless. I am so envious in the best way, vicariously “doing” the same. You guys do museum quality work. Compared to youse guys, my efforts are cave art.

Eyes and hands are important tools.

Over the last few months my hands have gotten more stiff and are much more sore. Guess ol’ arthritis is ramping up. For the most part, kit is still manageable.

Went to the eye doc the other day and he could not find a combination that made things clear. Said the readers that I have are what he would recommend. He also found some hemorrhages On the retina in the center of the vision field. Hence, the blurring. I don’t think he felt it was an emergency situation, but I will go see a retina specialist...if the eye docs office ever gets off their tail and gets the referral for me. Guess I’ll have to call them.

So, I’ll keep building things, keep breaking parts, keep losing stuff and posting some off the efforts. I’ve about decided that some of the shelf of someday may go in the bin. Maybe, maybe not. I’m not giving up, though.

Getting tired of the heat/humidity here. We pretty much went from early spring to deep jungle, tropical weather. Lawsey, it is sticky. Oh, my riding mower is down as is th trimmer...yard looks like a jungle.

Guess I’ll go wrestle with the mower deck, could be a pulley, belt jumping off, or broken belt. Replaced the fuel lines and primer bulb on the trimmer. Who knew fuel would eat them! Ethanol. May need to louder the diaphragms for the carburetor. Or, just buy a new one. Only about 15 bucks difference.

Did I mention it is hot?
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I hear ya, Lyle. It’s been hot and sticky the last few days in my area. 90 yesterday, 95 today. I can’t wait for my vacation week to start next Monday. Trouble is nothing is open for any day trips. Adirondack Museum, The Wild Center, Racquette Lake Boat Cruises, National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, Old Forge Lake Cruises, all we wanted to do are shuttered for the 2020 season.

Sorry to hear about your eye issues my friend. It sounds like you are taking a good attitude toward the situation. To a degree you just have to get on with it and live doing the things that you enjoy. I get it completely..... Hot weather is awesome. Here in the tundra I welcome summer and enjoy all 5 days of it..... things are green, birds singing in the morning, then we get 2 days of beautiful leaves changing color before a big wind comes blasting with cold air ,,,,,,,then we have grey and sticks for trees and the birds go to Florida to suntan for the remainder of the year.... Keep on building Lyle!!
