New kit coming in so I just sold off the old one....

Post by BorgR3mc0 »

Both Special Hobby and KP have announced that they will issue an SIAI SF-260 shortly. Since I had a resin kit of the SF-260 I was both happy and unhappy about that.
The new kits are bound to be better. But I also thought that my resin kit will be of no use.
So, I immediately placed it in a few Facebook selling groups and it sold within minutes. I even made a nice little profit: bought it for €6,-, sold it for € 15,-.

But was that entrepreneurship or a dirty trick? My buyer (who probably doesn’t read the modelling news sites) is happy now but will he be when the new kits are released? On the other hand, it is a level playing field: everyone can visit this sites and find out what companies are planning.

What do you guys think?

Well if he didn't know about the new one, that's his fault. It's not like it's hard to see all that info if you pay attention to the models sites.

I’d say it’s fair game. I often look forward to new kit releases for the fact that similar sales happen. Guys dump off their older kits in favor of the new release, usually at a better price than was normally to be had for on the older kit before the new release was announced. If it’s not priced better, I’ll pass and look for one that is.

I'd agree - it's fair game and for all you know he might have wanted that actual resin kit anyway.

Well I did ask a reasonable price for it. So I guess he will be happy with it.

Buyer beware I say. I've got a 1/48 Monogram Hind to sell since I picked up the Zvezda kit and on it goes. One mans trash is another mans treasure so to speak.
Thanks,
John

:ballbat: There’s nothing wrong with the Monogram Hind. I built one long ago when it was new, and won another in an IPMS raffle a couple of years ago.

I’ll see what I can do about the photos. The original Hind build photos are in Photobucket, and we all know what that means... :headbang:
The newer Hind is still unbuilt in my stash.
