A wash using pastel chalk, water, and a drop of dish soap, then applying it to the model and let dry completely before cleaning up with damp cloth looks so easy to do. I've got grey chalk variety but no browns. My guess using brown works best with WW2 Navy aircrafts? Looking at your method and choice of colors looks pretty good to me.

Thanks guys!
Browns are good because you'll always get a bit of residual wash on the model and brown simulates dirty wear well. You can also purposefully streak the removal for effect.
Very easy! I have a couple sets of Sargent Chalk Pastels (Earth Tones and Grey Tones) but I imagine that any chalk pastel would work fine.BlackSheep214 wrote:A wash using pastel chalk, water, and a drop of dish soap, then applying it to the model and let dry completely before cleaning up with damp cloth looks so easy to do. Flat coat has been applied to the Corsair... finally! I've also done a little bit of chipping with a sponge.

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

The contrast between everything is incredible! Can't wait to the canopy masks come off.

That is a simply fantastic looking build John - very nice work indeed.
I do like the looks of those decals and thanks for you notes on the panel washes - something I've never managed to master. I think I may have to give that go!

I third what Jeremy says: Thanks for the reality check. I'm even more a novice than ever compared to this! Stunning work John!
