Kenny, my Thesaurus just ripped all of its pages out. I would love to see a series of videos on how you do this kind of work. Your description are great, but apparently I’m a visual learning...or just dense.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Have a look at this video here:
...and ignore Doogs’ bashing of the pre-shading technique, and just focus on the black basing part of it. Pay particular attention to the manner in which he lays the paint down- the mottling, or “marble coats” as he calls them, and pay attention to the manner in which he blends them with the blend coats. This is pretty-much exactly how I like to paint- thin, marbled layers and numerous thin blend coats.

Aw shoot man, thank you. But Hell- of that fella hasn’t posted that black basing video, and other folks hasn’t posted videos about it, I wouldn’t be here. Same goes for Nick Millman and all the research he and his colleagues have done, this project never would’ve happened. Just lots of learning and practice and reading and exploring. That’s all it is.
