Convair F-102A (CASE X), Meng, 1:72, CB for Bruce

Post by Bolleken »

Dear all,
yesterday I started my first commission build ever. @speedgraflex asked me to build Meng's Convair F-102A Delta Dagger. We ordered the kit and a lot of goodies to improve the kit quality which is already pretty good. The Meng kit is supposed to be the best F-102 kit available in 1:72.

It is an honor for me to this build for Bruce. Whatever happens I hope it won't burden our friendship.

First thing I started with was to convert the assembly guide's color chart to different suppliers.

First assembly group is the cockpit. I prepared the main part for the pretty nice Eduard PEs and added some to the floor. Now the question is which ejection seat I wanna use. The one off the kit with PEs or the Pavla resin one? Or bashing both? Difficult, but the Pavla seems to have a body-in-white issue, fitting in height and width are suspect.

That is a lot of popcorn! Thank you for visiting. One aspect of note: we both really wanted to have all the options available. I thank Marius for his willingness to try using what would be the best of the best combinations of kit with aftermarket from the start. I could see how this would require superb focus and control plus that wild creativity which Marius has! I sent over a batch of seat photos last night and tonight I need to find shots of the afterburner.

Thanks all for being that interested. Usually I don't use so many aftermarket products. Bruce wanted to see it all
Yesterday I modified the headrests on both seats as there shape was too edgy.
Also I combined the Wolfpack and Eduard engine parts.
Now some parts are ready for painting.
