So I'll be starting this soon. My Dad has always wanted a model of Memphis Belle and I saw this kit at Hobby Lobby.

In true fashion, I had to add the Eduard PE Exterior set. I also got some Kits-World Decals set for the movie version of Memphis Belle cause Academy decals SUCK!!! Got them today and discovered that it's just the nose are and nothing else. So I ordered two more sets that have the rest of the markings and stencils that I need.

I've seen this kit at hobby lobby and always wondered how it built up, I'll be following along. That sucks that the decals was only for the nose art.

I have the same kit as well. Curious... why do you say the decals suck?

So far, test fitting shows that it looks to be ok. I got rid of the kit decals when I saw that they were Academy's in house ones.

Because Academy made them. I did their P-40 and the decals would break apart into lots of little pieces. Academy's decals are notoriously bad. Recently Academy started getting their decals made by Cartograph.

This is what happens with Academy decals. This is after I was able to get a million other pieces off already. It made the paint come up in areas too.

I’ve built a few Academy kits myself. And their decals are far from tops. But how did that happen to the paint?
