Barracuda Roy’s Lockdown 2020 | Heller | No. 80229

Speed build.

Duration 3 weeks.

With a speed build I will have to forego the usual plethora of stop start activities, cut the bullshit and build as best I can. The kit comes to me as a Christmas-Birthday present from Marius so I am feeling fortunate that I can start something new without new expenditures; with the belt tightening going on that was my primary concern.

The rules of the game here were for a clean start. Other than that one rule there is only the great limitation of time: three weeks is not very much time; I adjusted my goals to their most modest level in order to join the fray. Throughout I will be dropping photos here if anyone is interested; more or less this will be a series of telegrams, hopefully the images will be self explanatory.

That should be a quick build with only 41 parts. Following this one...

Thinking about jumping in...not sure.you can do this! Only two pieces a day.

Hi Lyle!

I hope you found that busted pipe, by the way. I am following along with your posts about that, as well as your projects.

I definitely have to plan this very differently.

Three weeks: three deadlines.

Week 1

Cut everything loose. Cockpit build and paint. Canopy mask and paint. Problem - missing piece 38 which is the armored headrest; solution - scratchbuilding. Fuselage assembly and clean up. Wings assembly and clean up. Propeller blade correction.

Week 2

Assemble fuse to wings. Paint landing gear. Paint tires. Paint fuse and wings in factory colors. Assemble stabs, wings and fuse.

Week 3

Paint the camo. Assemble the landing gear, antennas. Add decals.

Hey, Bruce. It is ,a leak where the water line comes into the house. Excavator required as it is four feet or so below grade. Hired a loca guy who is 1/2 the price. Any way, now we have to clear out space by the shutoff inside so they can get to it and we have to move a large Lenten Rose.
