Airfix 1/72 FW-190 A-8

Got this kit for Father's Day...

I've never built a FW-190 so I just had to crack open the box Sunday morning.

I then spent a happy few hours sat in the living room with the kit on my modelling tray on my lap, watching vids with my son, painting up the cockpit and getting the fuselage together.

I spent a bit of time before bed assembling the wings - lots of various panels etc as AF made a few variants out of the same kit. I'll glue the wing halves in the morning.

Cheers!

:wow: WHAT?! You have never built a FW-190 before? Ever?
Well, better late than never! Nice to see that you are finally correcting that shortfall Stuart.

Nope - never. I don't know why though as I've always liked the look of them - but I guess I've never been that into AXIS aircraft, the only Luftwaffe type I have completed is the Me410.

I'm quite liking this little kit though, it's a bit fiddly but should build up okay.

I've started a couple of Bf109's but never finished one!

Wow. As kids, my friends and I usually built up dogfight opponents in natural pairings: Spitfire & Messerschmitt, Mustang or Thunderbolt & Fock Wulf, Corsair & Zero… it just sounds most unusual for guys our age who have been building WWII aircraft for many years not to have done the same thing and built certain ones of those types.

Yeah, I seem to have got the other way - I've built a lot of some types (God knows how many Spitfires or Bae Hawks!) and none of some other pretty common types - it's one of the things I'm trying to address - hence why my stash is full of types I've yet to build (+ a few others).

Very cool Stuart! Don't feel bad, I've done one 109 and that'll be the extent of my WW2 German stuff.

I've never built a radial engine Fw190! I'm planning on changing that sometime in the future but there are so many different aircraft types and we all have different interests so I'm not surprised that many people have not modeled a Fw190 or even a Bf109.
