Soesterberg aircraft

Post by wjkunert »

here are 4 of the 5 aircraft flown by the 32nd at Soesterberg, the Netherlands between 1954 and 1994. I'm waiting for Zoukei Mura to bring out their F-4E to complete the set. The F-86F is carrying the colors used around 1955. The F-100C is shown using the colors from around 1956. They later went to the red, white, and blue vertical stabilizer similar to the F-102A in 1960. The F-102A later went to a horizontal green band on the vertical stabilizer and then during Viet Nam they were painted in SEA camo.

Exquisite. Which kits did you use? I am particular to finding a 1/32 Sabre.

The F-100 is a Trumpeter kit and the F-86 is a Hasegawa. There are very few F-86 kits in 1/32. Kitty Hawk has a F-86D and a F-86K and Wolfpack has a F 86F-40 ROKAF. Trumpeter has a F 100D in 1/32.

The F-86 at the museum looks to be painted. When they were with the 32nd they were bare metal. The aircraft does look nice. While stationed in Holland I was radar crew chief on the museum's 102 for a while.

Very nice! Any word on when ZM is planning to release a 1/48 F-4E?
