IPMS Belgium 6 & 7 Oct 2018

Post by KSaarni »

Howdy,

This weekend is a great day here in Belgium, the yearly IPMS National convention will be held in Affligem.
Only 30 minutes ride from here, indeed very convenient distance...

Image

My shopping list is very modest, definitely no new kits, but maybe some nice 2nd hand space stuff if found.
Otherwise only some consumables... For example, if I find Mission Models paint here (which I doubt, but still) then I will buy couple of bottles for testing!

But I am mostly curious to "sniff" the atmosephere, see the competition builds (and other) and more or a less hang around for some hours.
If I manage to take some representative picture of the event, I will share them of course.

Camera battery charged ? Check !
iPhone battery charged ? Check !
Gazoline in the car ? Check !
Some cash ? Check !
What do I wait ? Here we go! :bye:

Looking forward to your fun trip. I, too, have a small IPMS Syracuse show coming up next Sunday October 14, 2018 in Cicero, NY. An easy 45 minute drive for me.

I didn't go last year due to a sudden death of my 54 year old brother-in-law on that weekend.

Here's the flyer of the show

It was nice to visit the "nationals" today, called Plastic & Steel.

A number of interesting and well done builds. This convention is not the biggest in Belgium, but the official one nevertheless.
Everything is under one roof, in a bigger expo hall.

This year IPMS Belgium is celebrating 50 years of existense.

First some overview pictures of the 2-day convention:

Here comes a number of pictures, all taken from the competition table.

I had expected to see at least one Revells new P-51D in scale 1/32 competing, but nope, was no P-51s in 1/32 scale..

And those builds that I found to be very well done or overall interesting subjects. Unfortunately I realize now, that I did not take any pictures of any tanks, armour etc... Sorry guys, especially as that is something that seems to be more popular here than airplanes... :bag:

One of the competition categories is group builds, here 5 different Spitfires.

Very nice build, Trumpeters 1/32. Have much more pics available

Engine details...

Was Mostrich here ?? :giggles:

Astonishing!

Can you smell the fresh french bread ?

Rust was very popular weathering technic for many builds. Here just an example...

The sign tells: "Please watch with your eyes not with your fingers. Thank You!"

Wonderful build, so many details! Love the broken tire

That does look like a really nice show. So …. did you buy anything you needed? Love the broken tire diorama as well.

It was yes nice to be in the middle of like-minded when it comes to a hobby.

I had a couple of things I wanted and one that I needed; My Vallejo putty (have/had two tubes) have mysteriously disappeared, cannot find them anywhere. So prio 1 was to buy one or two tubes of this. However, very limited selection when it comes to puttys.. so I had to buy what was available and that what Tamiyas Putty "white". Never had it before, so let's try it if it can replace my Vallejo puttys.

Then I found some AM stuff for the P-51D build in near future:
A new Instrument panel from Yahu, Gunsight, resin exhaustpipes and a nicer seat with armour.
Preparing the build...
