Bubba's Academy 1/72 ME262A-1a

Post by bubbasparksuk »

As I joined the forum long after this GB started, I'm rather late to the party, but I can't resist an opportunity to build a Messerschmitt! I will be starting my Academy ME262A-1a in the next 24 hours and will have my first pics uploaded tonight (Sunday), hope you don't mind my gate-crashing Jim!

I certainly won't have it finished in 24 hours, I just meant I'll have it started and some pics uploaded in that time! lol

A little bit later than promised, but I've been making plenty of progress since I started yesterday, so here's the pics, starting with the usual box, sprues and scheme shots...

I'm going to be doing the Adolf Galland scheme!

I started with what seems to be my trademark, painting the wing camo...

My next job was to get the cockpit done, this went together rather nicely!

I then got the wings glued together...

As I was waiting for the glue to dry, I thought I would get the front wheel and main fuselage part together...

The wings were now together and ready to go onto the fuselage after the cockpit was installed (I forgot the cockpit at first and noticed it just before the glue started to set!)

Really pleased with how far I've got so far, the kit is excellent to build, just slots together like a dream! I have a few Academy kits in the stash, I think I might have to make an effort to get them built, as this is the second I've built of theirs and both have been top notch!

Looking mighty nice, Ben.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

I like it! Very well done. It's been a long time since I've built a -262; I think I need to get this Academy one and make the captured US version.

Way to go Ben!

Thank you for all your kind words guys!

Maddog, I was very impressed with the amount of schemes with this kit, there are actually 2 US captured schemes, so you even get a choice with that!
