Academy Me-163S

Post by BorgR3mc0 »

I have not started yet but I found all the stuff for my build. A 1/72 Academy Me-163S, Eduard express masks and a CMK kit for the cockpit.

Very nice! I like that little bugger.

The S was the russian 2 seat trial aircraft wasnt it?
72nd is gonna make your eyes hurt, the 48 scale kit was small enough.
You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

The soviets indeed tested both single and dual seat Komets. They did not make powered flights but towed the Komets. I am thinking of making it in the Russian version.

I have made the CMK cockpit to fit. It took some sanding and removal of a strengthening rib inside the Academy fuselage.

And I found a packing mistake in the CMK kit. The canopy supplied is of the single seat version instead of the dual seat. This is an AM kit from 2000 so I do not think it would be very useful to ask for a replacement. So the kit parts wil be used.

Recently Borg like to be involved in little rocket planes :)
I have the old but good Heller single seater version.
