Spates red devil. Theres comments about it being painted to resemble the red barons Dr.1. But ive also heard it came that way from the factory because the factory that made them used a red primer.

Great work Owl. Not going with the splinter scheme?

nah, just a quick curvy camo

like this!

ok

academy decals suck balls. Brittle, did not come off the backing, never really wanted to settle....aint nobody got time for that!

I just put on the basic markings, no stencils

here it is so far, just some greebly bits left to add!

Despite the decal problems it's looking great. Looks like you are in the running for being the first completion :)
As bad as Tamiya and Hasegawa decals are...I'd say Academy's are far worse (typically)....I'm still undecided on the worst between Tam / Hase.....both suck a bit differently, but about equally.

I really need to go back through some of my older builds and check out the Academy decals. I know I've built a bunch (including their Typhoon with Invasion stripe decals) but don't remember having issues with them? I see three possibilities:

1 - I'm Canadian, so I just apologized & kept moving.
2 - my pure, clean east coast Maritimes water agrees with the decals.
3 - I didn't know any better at the time.

...or the 4th, less likely option, is that I'm F#$%^&'n FABULOUS at appyling decals? :nono:

Nice little build here Owl, you seem to have a Messerschmitt assembly line on the go.

(I've built 2 of them, and have another in the stash. Found a bunch of them cheap, way back when.)
