HH-60J Jayhawk in commemorative markings

Post by keavdog »

I saw a pair of these flying over San Diego bay and wondered what the deal was. Turns out they are 'throwback' painted to commemorate 100 years of Coast Guard aviation. I knew I wanted to build one so here it goes. I normally build 1/48 but the only Jayhawk I could find was the HobbyBoss 1/72 kit

Here's the kit:

And a bit of work on the cockpit/crew/cabin. Lacks detail, but I'm not used to working in this scale. Assembly is nice though and the positive location of the cabin assembly in the fuselage is impressive. More to come.

Very nice! I like it a lot.

Yeah, cockpits in my preferred scale trend to lack the detail of the larger scales, but I have seen some impressive aftermarket stuff that brings them up to the level of detail on a larger scale kit. I don't use them; I just like getting my models finished.

You're doing exceptional work Kevin, keep it coming!
