I did that on the old Revell 1/48 CH-53 that I built long ago. That actually allowed it to survive storage intact while I was off in the army and my mom packed away all of my builds.

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
