I would have cut through the paint and had to start over
Thanks,

I've done that kind if polishing before. But only on real cars. Getting that level of gloss on a model.

Thanks for the laughs and the comments guys.
You wont burn through if you only sand the high points for only as long as needed and avoid the edges/ corners. The trick is to use grits in the 4-6000k ranges and sand softly. I was following up with 8-12K grit ranges but now to me it's a waste of time. Just hit the sanded surfaces with a couple polishing sessions with the Novus 2 and you're all set.

I printed out a hard copy of this and am hanging it by my sanding pads and Nexus since I can't seem to get your sanding/polishing advice to stick in my head!!!!mustang1989 wrote: You wont burn through if you only sand the high points for only as long as needed and avoid the edges/ corners. Joe always builds the cars I wanna drive away with. Into the sunset to be never seen again.
Thanks for that. I guess.

Greg: Glad I could be of help potna. After you get a method down that works you'll find yourself in a groove in no time man.
Torben: I appreciate the good word brother. I got my love for cars from my Uncle Eddie mostly when I was a kid. I used to love going over to his house when I was a kid because he was a model builder and a hotrodder. I followed his path early on and still do today.

Re: AMT 1970 Camaro Build-Wet Sanding & Polish-08/15
Great story, Joe! I’m the opposite.... I build hot rods/muscle cars and want to own one someday. Still waiting to get one. In case anyone is curious on what muscle car are on my wish list. They are in order as follows:
The first two are very close picks whichever one with the opportunity to buy first.
1972 Chevy Chevelle SS with a 454 under the hood
1964 Dodge Dart - high performance slant six under the hood, push button automatic
Tri-five Chevy- sedan or Nomad, 1955-1957
1970 1/2 Camaro - full or split bumper. I’d love to get the Baldwin Motion Camaro
1978 Monte Carlo
What the hell and why not...
1964 Mercury Comet. I will not build it as the irresponsible builder that crashed his on YouTube.
It can be built as a nice muscle car sleeper no one expects it.
I know there are Baldwin Motion Chevelles and Corvettes as well. Would be cool to get those too due to their rarity.
