Well gents, I present my Fujimi 1/72 F4U-5(N), Which seems more like a F4U-1 with a funny cowl and a 4 bladed prop + radar dome. Since the plastic in the box was more or less a 'what if', and decals for 1/72 -5N's few and far between, I used marking for a F4U-4!. According to Scalemates, the plastic is from 1964 and I sure believe it. As a result, some of the cruder bits (such as wheels, antenna and guns) had to be replaced. As such, the wheels are resin replacements and I scratch built the guns, antenna and pitot tube. The biggest challenge the kit presented was the canopy (F4U-1 Variety canopy BTW). The fit was horrible, so I glued it in, mainly to provide support for a layer of apoxie sculpt, which I shaped with sanding sponge-sticks and then painted black. Finally, just for fun, and repositioned the elevators and rudder (the kit provides separate ailerons, so I followed suite with the tail surfaces). Surprisingly, the kit 5 in rockets were quite usable. This was a challenging build, but I am happy with the results.

Good looking Corsair. Well done.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Very sharp clean finish! It looks like a museum display aircraft with the high gloss finish, blackened canopy & windscreen.

Exactly! No bird seals of approval.

Good looking Corsair! I've yet to build a night fighter version - maybe that new 2-in-one kit from Model Factory
Thanks,

Thanks John! That new Corsair Combo does look nice -- Gonna stick to my 4 bladed dash N's though!
Thanks Kari. Black windows solve many problems.. and create a few as well. Giving the old Revell HH-3 jolly green giant the black window treatment. Laying out all the framing is gonna be a pain though
