1/48 Revellogram P-51B

Post by silentbob33 »

Here's my Mustang in the markings of "Pappy's Answer" of the 364th FS, 357th FG. She was shot down on September 19, 1944 and pilot LT Jerome Jacobs spent the rest of the war as a POW. Any comments/critiques are welcome.

Nice! Well done.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

That looks very sharp! The colors of the 357th always look good on OD or NMF. But I am a bit surprised to see bombs instead of drop tanks on this one. :hmm:

I spent a little bit of time thinking about it, and decided to go with bombs because of all the mission markings on the nose. According to some information I was able to find, the 357th engaged in bombing/ground attack missions shortly after the D-Day landings. So I figured it wouldn't be too far out of the realm of possibility that at some point bombs would have been loaded up instead of drop tanks at some point in the plane's career. Plus, I thought it would create a point of interest to see a Mustang with bombs.

These old Revell/ Monogram builds do build up nicely with a little....er….a lot of effort. After having done a couple myself I can attest to that. Looks like you put forth a very good effort on this one bud. Thumbs up all the way. :shoutout:
