I was young. My warped memory of them was not a happy one. No real specifics.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

It's this conversation that gets me going... I want to build a Hawk kit now!

I’m trying to find the photo, but one of the guys in our IPMS Chapter won a best of show at some recent contest using the Hawk 1/48 Lysander kit.

Carlos, Maybe it’s Keith Mundt of San Clemente, California? His name is on the 2018 preliminary lists for the 2018 Nats with a 1968 Hawk Lysander.

The photo is from Spruefest 2018. No caption. That certainly looks correct, though.

Bruce, I’m pretty sure that is the kit. It has been the talk of the club at meetings.

Yes, that is indeed the kit. Keith built that from the old Hawk chrome-plated kit. He fully scratch built the interior and detailed out everything. This thing is a masterful work of art that is stunning in it's quality and complexity! Keith makes me want to quit with feelings of inadequacy! LOL! :giggles: :bag:

He won the 2018 Best Aircraft at IPMS Nationals with that kit.

And yes, Keith is a very impressive modeler. The man has some serious skills and talent.

It certainly looks an impressive build, I'm very impressed.

However he loses marks from me for having the wrong markings :hmm:

On closer inspection, I don't think that is his. I don't recall him being at Spruefest, but I could be wrong. There were tons of people there.
