Yeah, I was trying to get the same thing going here that Carlos started on FSM in about 1962. It will be easier to get through if people keep it down to maybe 3 of their favorite pictures.
Wait, 1962?

That’d be a neat trick. I wasn’t born for another few years

Whippersnappers! I was suffering through my sophomore year of high school, and working full time in the family farming and well drilling business. And building models, of course.

Richard Bach wrote a good book about his adventures in Europe on nuke duty in the F-84F. Stranger to the Ground.

I would like to read that sometime. I remember in high school reading a book by a F-100 pilot, and one part that I still remember was about flying across the Atlantic ocean. I did came across some good articles online from Airman magazine regarding standing nuclear alert with this type.

This is the only 1/48 Thunderstruck that I've ever built. I did a small box scale one as a kid, but that probably had a dozen parts at most...
I have that new Thunderbirds kit in my stash as well now.
The AK Aluminum was too shiny, so I put on a coat of Humbrol Satin to give it a proper sheen and tone it down a bit. I have some good finishing ideas now for my next MNF build, whatever it may be. I love adding the little flightline bits to give that look of real life. Now if I could find a nice 50's era 1/48 Security Police figure to stand guard...
