Camionetta AS 42 Sahariana | Italeri | 1/35

Post by tigrazor »

Hello all.

Some months ago I got this kit and it was a long time considered to be build one day. The Sahariana is a strange vehicle used by Italian forces, but very effective.

Heres a little bit of history:

The kit has resine parts inside (engine) and even two figures and besides the instructions theres a booklet with brief history and original pictures of the vehicle.

The build itself makes no problems so far. It will be placed on a former wooden cigar box. I used wet kitchen paper here for the surface and chinchilla sand. And lots of haispray.

So there we are, the build will be continued of course. ;)

An interesting subject used by the Italians during WW2. Looking forward to the finished product and diorama.

Hey I've got one of those! Sidelined... But I have the 47mm gun armed vehicle. It's a fun build actually... :hmm:

Hi.. so there is no glue with the wet paper, just water and hairspray on a form within the cigar base? The base itself was chopped down on three sides to create a small hill or mound, right? When I saw the base I thought I was looking at a hydrocal pour over paper towels. Very curious to know more....

I thinned white glue (VERY thin) and dipped the paper inside and build several layers. After that was done, I poured chinchilla sand over it and sealed it with lots of hairspray. It works especially when you want to build rocks. i think Im gonna add some small stones additionally here and there.
