To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Re: My camera
I don´t put my box camera up for auction. I still use it here and there. This one still looks as good and new as when I bought back then 1912...mostrich wrote:Relicts of WWI can reach ridiculous prices on auctions these days.LyleW wrote:...but it has to be at least as old as Thomas.

Re: My camera
Partly the reason for not doing so much modelling over the past few months has been the resurgence in my interest in 35mm photography and Classic cameras.
One of the oldies I’ve been shooting recently is this beauty – An Olympus 35RC Rangefinder.
The b&W film comes from Eastern Europe – and expired in 1985. I’ve no idea what it’ll come out like but I got it from ebay for a few quid and thought it would be a laugh.
Cheers
Stuart

Re: My camera
Stuart, I am excited to see this ORWO film package! I think this is a brand that was made in former East Germany. Oh dear, that´s long ago!
Re: My camera
Hi Thomas - Yep, it expired in 1985 so it's certainly Soviet/Cold War era. I think you're correct in that it is east German although it was pre-war and made one of the first colour films. The company still exists and still produces film.Thomas_M wrote:Stuart, I am excited to see this ORWO film package! I think this is a brand that was made in former East Germany. Re: My camera
Thanks for this interesting read, Stuart! I visited East Germany several times back then, but did not take pictures. Something I regret today, because it was so (!) different to my West German experience.
Re: My camera
Yep, ORWO is good old GDR standard.
Heres the good news, they came back on the market in 1998:
