Yes indeed! It sure does have that Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon look...

What Stuart said! Looking really campy!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

LOL, thanks guys.
Stuart, I'll have to play that when I'm building.
The kits is so crappy that it's almost too easy to come up with something interesting.

I was thinking about the oar rows on Phoenician Galleys and the top and bottom super structures for submarine command centers to balance the great looking blisters at her bow and rockets at her stern. So at the doctor’s I sketched a bit of how that might look; this made a great warm up exercise and led to some critical thinking about streamlining. Your approach is a fantastic aesthetic to follow.

Oh my That is a great drawing Bruce! I was thinking of poles, antenna, oars if you will on the blisters as well. I've been collecting little items that would work for this purpose and will play with the idea close to the end. Your drawing makes me want to go home and get to work on it.
The kits superstructure is so horrible it screams to be modified and turned into something interesting. It'll just take some imagination and filler. Not sure what to do with the 5" turrets yet.

I am excited! I would check out anything by Chris Foss, for the paint and colors. Personally I like these shiny black surfaces set off with Stars and Stripes—the Navies of the far future.
With A/B Command Decks I was thinking when one gets sheared off or knocked out then the other would rotate into position... or the decks adjust in position.

Oh yeah, I like the black and red. I also have the 1/800 Academy Kitty Hawk which I understand isn't very accurate, besides being an odd scale. I want to do something with that as well.

The “War Galley” Version - based on your side blisters:
In the upper corner is the small sketch I started from - based on your work in progress. At the time I was thinking Starship Troopers “Roger Young” class ship of the line—delivering thousands of troops. Know... Your... Foe!

Now I just need to make it as cool as your drawing.
