Hang in there. This is a stressful time for all of us, we don't need to compound the stress anymore with injuries. We are all praying for your swift and full recovery.

Tom,

I read your post with great concern and am sending you my very best for a quick recovery. You are taking the right approach with your patience and persistence. There are alternative eye drops that are available over the counter that were recommended to me - remember to ask your doctor about them. Also I always take a notebook or use my phone to write down what the doc says in detail. When a doc sees you are doing this they usually become more attentive and instructive. Just my 2 cents from dealing with eye issues on my end.

Damn. That really sucks man. I can't add anything more than what you've already been told. Hope everything's ok. Let us know how it turns out.

I kinda feel you pain though. I have a bad tooth infection that started last Saturday. Most dentists are closed and the open ones are for emergencies only. I used the TeleDoc app as well and got some antibiotics and it's getting better already.

It’s been quite a day but I do have an update. Went to the eye doctor my wife made an appointment with. Did a complete eye exam everything under the sun including photos of my eye. The good news is confirmed. The eye photos showed blood behind me eye and a retina tear. The doc made an appointment with a retina specialist nearby. The appointment was this afternoon at 12:45 pm. Yeah, that quick.

I go to my afternoon appointment and went through the whole thing over again, including photos. The doctor from this morning was spot on. The retina specialist confirmed it. He showed me the more advance pics and it pointed out to me where the blood was ( the floaters I’ve been having and the hazy sight) and the nasty dot on the left a retina that is a little bit detached. He gave me 3 options.1 being leave it alone and let it heal. The risk the retina will detach and my vision gets worse in a week. Option two is laser surgery today. Option 3 is go to hospital and have it done there but a bit more involved. He recommended option two and I agreed right off the bat. Procedure will take 5 minutes. The laser surgery will remove the blood and seal the detached retina.

I got home about 4 pm. Lemme tell ya, I’ve had enough of abuse on my eyes with drops and amanaged to rest and sleep for a couple hours after dinner. Oh yeah, I drove myself home too since it was only 10-15 minutes from home. I feel a lot more in peace. I thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. I will resume probably in a couple days to give my eyes a chance to heal. But I am cleared to work tomorrow. Believe me, it’ll be a nice change of pace after the crap I’ve dealt with since Sunday afternoon.

On a side note - both doctors agree the chemicals I may have gotten in my eye is not the cause. Simply a wild coincidence that it happened that afternoon. I most likely damaged the retina myself unbeknownst to me that day.

That is terrific news! God is good. It is amazing to get those appointments like that, but I guess they had some openings.

Any info on what might have caused the tear?

Glad to hear that it was not chemical damage to your eye Tom. The torn retina is usually a result of an impact injury. If you got a bonk on the noggin, that is very possibly the cause.

Glad to hear that they took care of you so quick. But medical emergencies as a rule of thumb cover three categories: potential loss of life, limb, or eyesight. Yours sounds like it falls under the last one, so the rapid treatment is warranted.

I cleaned my grill yesterday.
I was powerwashing the deck...figured, may as well do the grill.
Got a face full of water and ash...whatta mess!
I did have my sunglasses on though.

Eye issues are nothing but a suckfest.
I once got a burning ember, smack dab in the center of my right pupil.
Going from 20/20+ to nothing but a blur was horrible. Took a bit over a week...back to normal!
