This is one of the birthday kits given to me by my son. I spent 3 nights doing the riggings alone using stretched sprue since I don't have EZ Line. This is the first battleship kit I've done in over 40 years. The Revell kit OOB wasn't too bad fit wise. The only gripe I had was the existing holes for threading were a bit too large. I think Revell could have done is have them pre-drilled for the builder to do it themselves if they want to rig this battleship..
Colors used:
Haze Grey for the hull
British Crimson for lower section of hull, 5-N Dark sea Blue for the water line
Pollyscale Mud was used for wood deck
Floatplanes is a special mix of 2 parts 5-N Navy Blue, 2 drops of Weathered Black and 2 parts Dark Sea Blue (FS15042) I wanted to give it a nice weathered look. I am very happy with how it turned out. I was going to use Dark Sea blue but in my eyes it was just waaaaay to dark for my taste.
Now for the pics...
I am planning on doing another US Navy ship soon. I'm looking to pick up the Fletcher Class USS Sullivans destroyer and build it as USS Wadleigh; the destroyer my dad was on when he was in the Navy in the late 50s. The Sullivans destroyer appears to be almost exactly as the Wadleigh.
I did want to do another ship my dad was on (USS Courtney) but that ship is classified as a Destroyer Escort. Unfortunately, there are no destroyer escort kits out there.

Nice! Me-109?
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Nice job on the classic Revell kit Tom.

Thank you, guys. I am confused by Lyle’s Me-109 post.

Re: Revell 1/535 USS Missouri "Mighty Mo"
Since I am planning ahead on a destroyer kit in the future, I’ve always been confused with ship kits scales. I know 1/535 scale is a decent size but what about scales 1/350 and 1/700? I know one is waterline kits and I’m taking a wild guess 1/350 are just that. 1/700 would be slightly bigger than 1/535 scale.
Am I close assuming that?

Re: Revell 1/535 USS Missouri "Mighty Mo"
Just the opposite Tom, 1/700 ships are smaller than 1/350. And 1/700 has a huge selection of waterline kits, while only some 1/350 kits have a waterline option. The same ship in 1/700 will be twice as big in 1/350.

Re: Revell 1/535 USS Missouri "Mighty Mo"
Thank you clarifying this for me, Carlos. I have seen preview pics of some ship kits in 1/350 scale and have noticed some can be built with full hull or waterline hull. I’ve narrowed down on getting the Trumpeter USS Sullivans destroyer kit.
I know I came across sort of a Naval yearbook of my dad’s ship but I’m not sure if it was the Courtney or Wadleigh. Either way, that would give me nice reference pics.

Nice job on that old gal.
The Courtney was a Dealey class 56 -73
The Wadleigh was a Fletcher class, I believe a square bridge design so the "The Sullivans" would work. If it was a round bridge design, the Tamiya kit would fit.
