I remember right as the Falklands was winding down, the 1982 Lebanon War kicked off. It was a very life on the edge time. All sorts of guerrilla wars in Africa and Central America, plus two major mid intensity conflicts… communist backed terrorist cells in most NATO countries… Afghanistan for the Russians… Iran/Iraq… and of course the ongoing Cold War nuclear alert forces…

Ye, very hectic time. And we were dealing with terrorists from N Ireland as well. That had been the major conflict hitting the headlines.
