Metal Earth Fokker DR.1

Post by mustang1989 »

This.....is definitely NOT plastic but it's a filler build. If I find myself working on a project for longer than 6 months I need something quick to build that'll help me have a sense of accomplishment by actually finishing something. I've been seeing this kit at HL for the last few months and have been wanting to build it after I built a Metal Works Avro Lancaster kit last year.

So.....I bought one

This one's not too bad, it's only got two sheets.

Honestly, for being a PE kit it's got some decent detail to it. A decent cockpit and a good amount of detail on the engine. Each one of the cylinders had to be bent into a cylinder shape and attached to the base. I couldn't help it.......I had to apply a wash over the cylinder air cooler fins to bring out the details some.

I saw that at my local Hobby Lobby and came close to buying it myself. I’ve done the B-17 Fortress one and boy did it fight me. Not perfect but presentable. The Tiger tank was easier to do though.

That's exactly why I didn't get that B-17. That Avro Lancaster fought me bad enough but I've also got the Terminator T-800 Endoskeleton that I'm building too. Now THAT.....you've gotta get your "big boy" pants on for. I spent 3 hours and only got the R/H thigh completed!!!! I still work on that one from time to timie but that thing as FIVE sheets of PE!!!

That's a really cool thing Joe! The engine looks almost as an engine made of styrene ! :-D

( a little bit funny the scale, why 1:70 and not 1:72 ? :hmm: )

Joe, get a hobby!

I can’t imagine all PE...nope. I have been tempted, though.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
