Ah man… :headslap: Are you going to buy another and try again?

btw all, thanks so much for your kind comments, they're always much appreciated!

I do like building the odd 1/48th kit, so another will follow soon. If you get the chance to build this kit I'd go for it - the issues I had were totally all my own doing! :bag:

Totally, it's a great kit.

Stuart, you missed that part in my build log where I shaved down the top of the wing spars and ribs and made sure the upper wings fit well to the lowers before fitting anything to the fuselage. If you do that the only place I had any issue was the fit of the lower cowl to the front of the wing, which wasn't to hard to deal with.

Sorry you had a sub-optimal outcome!

That makes perfect sense John, I'd have done the same if I'd remembered to fit the upper halves on first... :headslap:

It does look like it'd go together well if it was assembled properly.

I was working on assembling all the main components today, got the fuselage together okay, put the lower wings on and the various other bits, but was a bit disappointed by the fit – I then realised that I hadn’t fitted the upper wing halves before I’d fitted the wing to the fuselage. Managed to get them wedged in place, glued and clamped up but the fit was awful, so I had the bright idea of trying to remove the wing so I could redo from start… Well as you can imagine it didn’t go too well as not only did I get a split in the wing, I also managed to pull one half of the cockpit framing apart…

It was at this point I channelled my inner Calvin.

Alas the Clipper. which was also awaiting yet another re-paint, got the same treatment.
Oh man, I’m so sorry. But as a guy who takes a ball-peen hammer to models I make that disappoint me, I get it.

This sounds like the outcome of my Italeri 1/72 Tornado. I accidentally dropped it on the floor and stepped on it. 5 or 6 times

Stuart, a man can take only so much...and then the hammer comes down! I can relate so well as someone who has "killed" several recalcitrant up-right vacuums and line-trimmers (read: weed eater) and yes, there was that occasion when the Snapper lawn motor met "hammer time". It is interesting just how much damage a young, strong lad can do to a lawn mower with a large ball-peen hammer.

But that was years ago, and I'm much calmer now. Right. Perhaps that helps explain my one build a year pace...

Live and learn and as you say, have fun at it! I bet we see another Hurricane from ya!
