Tamiya 1/48th F-14A Tomcat!

Post by Stuart »

I thought it was about time I built something modern, so I pulled this out yesterday - probably the biggest boxed kit I've yet built.

My God, what a mountain of plastic!

Obviously I'll be doing the box art VF-84 'Jolly Rodgers'.

I built up the cockpit ready for painting - 28 parts thus far, and thankfully the fit was superb.

Onto paint next!

Cheers!

Oh, this is going to be fun, Stuart! After hearing so many glowing comments regarding this kit, I bought one too. I've never built a 1/48 Tomcat and I think that's the kit to do. I've dug that mountain of plastic out of the box several times and perused the instructions; I'm sort of drawn to the Iranian options because of that cool camo, but those US Navy schemes are so attractive as well. :hmm:

I'm excited to see this one get underway, Stuart, so please, then build on, brother!

:wow:

Mama Mia, that sa lot of plastic. So many opportunities to lose stuff.

You can do this!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Have fun Stuart! Only heard good things about this kit.
I sure hope they will release it in 1/72 , as well as their F-4B. These quarter scale jets take up too much room for me.

That's a nice piece of a kit Stuart !

You will love it, it's really a high quality kit, as modern true Tamiya kits are!

By just looking at your post, I get inspired to dig out my Tamiya F-4B Phantom II from the mothball .. :hmm:
