Talk about anything modeling: kits, tools, paint, etc...

"To go" - rituals ?

Post by KSaarni »

I was wondering, what sort of rituals or habits, if any, do you SPAM members usually have before starting a brand new build ?

Myself I tend always to install a new x-acto blade nr 11 before I start a new project. Gives a sharp start for the build

Might be I have some other rituals as well, but this is my "to go" ritual

How is it with the rest of the group ?

does whiskey count?

Honestly, i don't have any "go to" rituals starting a new build. There is a better than even chance that it will not be finished. Makes me sad, but we press on. One thing I've discovered and it is probably nothing, is that I mke better progress if I do not worry about posting thngs until I am well underway. I also do look longingly at the destructions, uh, instructions.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

To celebrate starting a new kit, I immediately start another one!

That's good advice - I've noticed the same thing with me!

Yeah, makes sense, applies mostly for me as well

Hmmm... I don't change #11 Xacto blades prior to every new build to start.

I'd say I decide which shade of color looks best on the subject... be it auto, aircraft, etc...

I honestly can’t think of any set ritual I have before starting a new kit. Perhaps the closest thing I have to that is to periodically clean and organize my bench, but that can also happen after immediately a kit is finished, or partway thru a project if the area gets too cluttered…

After pondering this for a few hours, about the only thing I always do before starting a kit is go to my workshop....Unless I am traveling, and then it is to go to the local hobby shop in the area!

Step one. Sit down at bench
Step two. Open next kit
Step three. Commence to building kit mentioned in step two.

Just brush the bench off and organize stuff.
