Toku 1/72 scale I-2M3 Sturmovick

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Bought this little beauty on eBay a few years ago. I believe this is a Ukranian kit. This should be a nice compliment pairing to the Sukhoi SU-6 AM-42 I built a year or so ago.

Partially started the cockpit. Not a whole lot of detail. Pics forthcoming.

Very cool! One of the few Russian planes I like.

Yeah, I love the looks of them cuz they look so badass.
I really want the 1/48 scale by Tamiya but they're asking stupid money for them. Just as mush as 1/350 scale ship model kits - maybe more.

Nice project Tom! :shoutout: I'll be curious to see how this kit builds up.

This will be fun to watch. I too like this airframe - something about tank busters. I got the Tamiya 1/48 kit some time ago and just landed these from andys hhq for painting it

Odd nubs after nipping off the sprues...

Wings, top and bottom halves and fuselage halves...

Cockpit lacking details, no decals for instrument panel. Even rudder stick seems off. Look at instruction guide image. Looks like it may be a molding issue. I don't know. I'll check my spares for proper rudder stick.

I noticed there's no seat for rear gunner. I need in research more whether if there an actual seat or a wide leather strap for a seat. :hmm:

I guess it don't matter since I'm not going to see the instrument panel details and rear gunner seating once the canopy is on.

Nice subject. I have four Toko biplanes in 1/72 and they all are going to be a bit of work. But two are Sopwith Salamanders, so it's not all bad!

The Tamiya kit has the rear gunner sitting on a sling.
Thanks,
