Ark Models Mig-3

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Flown by Russian Ace Aleksandr Pokryshkin. I have started a little bit last night on the engine. Sadly, it will not be seen once the fuselage is buttoned up.

Interesting kit. How is it for fit, etc?

In my old age and grumpiness, If it can't be seen, I will likely not build it into the model. Just not worth it anymore. I :shoutout: you for doing this.

So far I've done step 1 on the cylinder heads for the engine. It is no longer available (short run kit?). From what I've noticed, tiny or very little tabs for fit.

59 kills. Man that Mig-3 looks like a hotrod. Article said he got most of his kills in the P-39.
Thanks,

Engine is done. Lots of fiddly pieces for 1/48 scale.

5 fiddly parts for frame.

It is a gorgeous aircraft engine. Such a shame it'll all be
hidden away inside the fuselage once it's buttoned up.

Next up is framing for cockpit. More fiddly bits... :headbang:

You're off to a great start!

That looks identical in parts layout to the ICM kit that I built a bit over a year ago. If it is a clone, the fit will be quite nice!

Great looking engine. According to scalemates it's a rebox of the ICM kit stik did indeed.

I was thinking the box art was reminiscent of ICMs...you could always display the engine next to the finished model if you don't want to hide it.
