Re: Kermit "does" the Yamato (1:1200) - Finished

Have to say i like this stuff. After 6 hours it is starting to harden out but is still somewhat plyable/moldable. Definately want to try this full scale with the styrofoam layer underneath.

Also want to try an alternative: clear silicone gel or clear caulking

It basically involves using styrofoam to create a rough swell, then covering it with Gel Medium. Appearantly artist painters use...

Re: Kermit "does" the Yamato (1:1200)

Thank you for the kind words! A better painter than me can really make this into a very convincing sea scape. The Base Pt.III and Finish Time for paint! But before we do that we need to seal the plaster. Not using any kind of sealant will most likely make the plaster soak up a lot of the paint you a...

Re: Kermit "does" the Yamato (1:1200)

Thank you Ksaarni, it is really fun to do as well! I picked up this way of modeling water from the IPMS Stockholm website and did a few projects with it.

Re: Kermit "does" the Yamato (1:1200)

The base - Pt.II Now that the plaster base plate was fully dry, i could then proceed with creating the bow waves and wake. Using ordinary DAS clay you outline the ships contours using fingers and spatula. Once that is done, you can add the bow waves with more of the clay. With wet fingers and brush...

Kermit "does" the Yamato (1:1200) - Finished

 Nobody posted here since winter?? Time to do something about that! As i was working on the review build of the Phantom Mustang elsewhere on this forum i slipped into this deadly "i am not having fun with this" state of mind. So i am taking a break from it to build something else....
