Re: Airfix Artist Roy Cross has passed away
I think his B-29 art is my favorite.

Looks good, John. Maybe not what you were seeing in your mind but still good!

Re: John Eaton's Build Logs
Thanks, Carlos. Obviously it is a posed photo as there is no black smoke coming from that exhaust pipe! Here's the D-7 from the same source as the grader. I had to do some repair work on the hard nose and hood where the build was incomplete, thick CA and dental alginate were used for that. http://go...

Re: John Eaton's Build Logs
The D-7 is underway. I'm assuming the Sea Bees painted things OD at least part of the time. Hard to find any color pictures of their equipment and if I go OD they can be in Europe or the Pacific I think.

Re: FineScale Modeler magazine sold to Firecrown Media
If they do drop the existing forum I hope they start another. I have always thought that done properly the two mediums could reinforce each other. The internet continues to evolve and I keep hoping for the best. It has created almost as many problems as it has solved.

Re: John Eaton's Build Logs
I really should be more attentive to this thread! This is a 3D printed kit from Poland from a firm called IDAP Technologies, in their line called Military Scales. I bought this one, a Caterpillar Model 12 Grader and a D-7 dozer from them via ETSY. They make them in numerous scales, the price rises a...

Re: Eduard 1/48 Hawker Tempest II
Beautiful work, John. I've always thought the Sea Fury landing gear was interesting. It had a lot of travel and the hose arrangement was rather elaborate. Without two pictures its hard to see how it achieves all that motion. http://goldeneramodel.com/msc/seafuryldggear.jpg http://goldeneramodel.com/...

Re: Falklands War book
The Airfix newer kit is much better than the Revell Germany kit.

Re: Falklands War book
Martin Bishop (Bish) ran a Falklands GB on FSM not long ago and I built the Victor for it. Lots of interesting info in that thread.
Hard not to think how much simpler that bombing campaign would have been had the Brit's had the time to lease a few B-52's from our boneyard.
