Sensational work Gary! Thanks for the memories. I built one of these way back when as a gift for a friend of mine.

Thanks Duke! I got the Future sprayed over the decals, and the modeling gods smiled, as that Future went on beautifully. After the Future was "dry", I removed the tape from the rear NMF sections and sure enough, there was glue residue on all three different sections. I managed to get it off with the help of Goo Gone, and Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. But. It ruined the NMF paint. After the weathering is finished and the model sprayed with semi-gloss clear, I'll mask off the section forward of the NMF and paint it again. No biggy, just a small bump in the road. A lot more masking lies ahead, onward through the fog!

Thank you John!

That's a good looking build Gary - love the F-102, not as nice as the 106 but still a great looking aircraft.
When I have more shelf space, I'd like to build some of these old Monogram jets - they're not so easy to come by in the UK, but they are available at a decent price if you look about - I'd like to do all the century series.

Thanks Stuart! Yeah, that 106 is truly bad*ssed. So far, my Century Series completed are my F-100D, RF-101B, F-104A and soon this F-102. I still have the Monogram F-105 and 106 in the stash. Someday I will build that Delta Dart, not so sure about the Thud. Aren't there much nicer, more modern kits of that? Now that I type it, I seem to recall a newer F-106 too...

Trumpeter made a new tool F-105 in 1/48. Or was it their alter ego Hobbyboss? The new tool F-106 is by Meng I believe.

Carlos, I was thinking HB for the 105 and yes, I've seen the Meng kit built over at Britmodeller. I recognize that name now that you mention it.

Meng did a 1/72 F-106A, but not in 1/48 so far as I know. Trumpeter has done the F-106A and F-106B in 1/48 and 1/72. The Meng kits are the bees knees.
Re: Monogram "nostalgia"...updated with progress pics
yes yes... but they're not nostalgic Monogram kits are they?
(but yeah, the MENG kits are very nice!)
