This diagram is no good. The placement of the gun sight, which goes through a slot in the dash/cove of the cockpit, should be in register or at least shown where it goes or I’m just not on my game at the moment—if you are “starting,” this should be made a lot clearer. Basically, you’re gluing the smallest part in the kit freestyle!! So I have it in place, but it does not come all the way through. My solution will be to take a clear piece of sprue and whittle it into the flat glass and extend it through. Remember I’m building OOB, with only what Airfix gives you, plus a knife and gallons of caffeine.

Humbrol tube glue takes getting used to—but I wrestled with the fuselage tonight and I won. My change from the instructions was to take the round part where you center the propellor and glue the fuse front halves to it. That gave me a form to hang tightly upon as I added the cowling sections. Again recall I am not using any tools other than glue and a knife and fingers are crossed that none of those seams won’t show!! As if!

That’s the least amount of finesse work I have done since joining SPAM! I want to thank everyone for their comments, thoughts, encouragement. This means so much.

You can do that. Better yet.... how about making one out of clear file folder tabs? Look in the office supply aisle at a Walmart or office supply store. Or swipe one at your workplace. :giggles: It beats sanding and whittling it down thin and polishing it.

I can send you a couple spares if you’d like.

Thank you so much. I was going to try to keep using what’s in the box but your idea about using a thin sheet and just cutting it is better!

I really need to study your methodology on your current project. I like the combination of detailing parts and scratchbuilt areas. Thinning things out. Basically everything I can’t do here due to the OOB / Starter Set supply limitations.
