Some other types that I’ve seen in port at Seal Beach

A Ticonderoga class

LPD Amphib.

And the newest type that I’ve come across, a LCS

I did come across a Perry Class FFG there, right as they were ending the phase out and transfer to other navies. Unfortunately, I did not take any photos.

I love the Ticonderoga class! That amphibious ship is a San Antonio class ship. And that LCS is a waste of metal.

The LCS strikes me as too much ship for what it has onboard. Small short range weapons, and not enough of those...

I still don't understand the point of them. I know they're meant for shallow water ops but do we need a ship that big that shoots spit wads instead of missiles?

I know that they have modules for various missions. I am curious as to how long it takes to change those modules and what capabilities and weapons/sensors the modules provide. Multi mission capabilities in one design usually tends to water down the capacity to be really good at one or two.

Reading this, makes me think that they could have spent the money on better things.

IIRC, there are also memorial posts there for USS Thresher and USS Scorpion, the two boats lost in the Cold War.
Yes sir...that is a wonderful looking memorial for those individuals. If I ever get to SoCal I am going to stop by and see that. The other photos are great. My bother served on a LCS and he stated the same thing you did about the weapons system. He tried to get transferred to another ship but that never happened.

Case in point.

OK boys, weigh anchor and get underway at your discretion.
