Mustang's 2021 Production

Post by mustang1989 »

Well folks....production for this year was NOT a very productive one as far as completions go BUT.....I was happy with what I did get out.

My first completed build was a first in a while for me because I haven't started an aircraft build in a long LONG time but I've always wanted a Me-262 to be in my display case and I've been wanting to build a Franz Stigler bird (whether it be a 109 or a 262) for a while and I finally made it happen with a Tamiya 1/48 offering. Not my usual style of opening everything up but I just couldn't disrupt the beautiful lines of this aircraft too much. This one took somewhere around the 7 month marker to finish.

Then I had a Revell Boss 302 engine from the 1970 Boss 302 Mustang kit that I built as a part of a community project and was pretty happy with this outcome as well. This took me almost 2 months to build.

And then another "first" for me. I ended up building my first ever all metal PE kit. A Fokker Dr 1 in 1/70 scale from Metal Earth. This one, while only taking a couple of days to build, was a pretty fun build for me. Challenging, but a pretty quick finish that I felt pretty good about.

Aside from these three builds I've had a 1967 Mustang Fastback build that I've spent the last 5 months building and will hopefully be finished up in the next couple of months. I had planned originally for it to be a fairly quick build but the more I built on it , the more detail I wanted to put into it so.....I'm now looking for a completion within the next couple of months. After that....I'm not sure what I'll tackle next. I've got another aircraft build that I've been wanting to tackle now for 25 years and then there's another Maverick project that I'd really like to do. :hmm: We'll see how it goes.

Joe, my man, you are the master engine builder. That thing is spectacular! The 262 is so well done, too. Then there is the little Fokker. Neat project.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Joe, those are three great looking projects! Your car motors are always so impressive in the detailing that you add. They are obvious results of a passion for the subject. Your aircraft are no slouches either! Hats off to you for accepting the challenge of a Metal Earth kit! :shoutout: And of course the 262…

Thanks fellas. I was happy to have gotten another aircraft build (or two) under my belt this year. I've also had a performance upgrade side gig going for the 1:1 scale truck. I've been piecing this one together for the last 6 months and it looks like it's gonna cross the finish line this month.

It's not the quantity but the QUALITY!

The 262 is just out of this world, love it as well as the engine! (the scale was 1:4, right ? )
