Yeah, hopefully it won't be that long. A lot of things may change drastically for me in 12 weeks. I may be looking at being placed on the lung transplant list around that time. I'll know a little more about that on that 11th.

I have Pulmonary Fibrosis. Mine is hereditary from my mother. My brother also has it. The only cure is a lung transplant and the prognosis is 3 - 5 years after diagnosis, I however was diagnosed 6 years ago so I'm beating the odds. The plan is for the transplant panel of doctors to decide if they want me to get the pre-transplant eval, which would happen the first of October. The next step, if I am approved and if they don't find anything else, is for the panel to again decide whether they want me on the transplant list. I would know this sometime late October. At that time I would have to move to Dallas a wait on the list. Right now I use supplementary oxygen during night and exertion. I really don't know what the panel will decide. The Dr said I was the perfect candidate and they would want to do this while I was healthy. At this point I am borderline but was told I could much worse quickly.
We'll see what they say on Tuesday or Wednesday.

So sorry to hear that. Prayers for proper care and expedited actions. I have a friend that had a double lung transplant several years ago. He was at the point of not coming home from the last hospital visit - either dying or with new lungs. He is doing great and looks/acts like the John I knew.

Oh, and on unimportant stuff, Hobbico has posted this on their FB page.

Thank you so much Thomas and Lyle!
Lyle, there is a guy in our IPF support group who had a double lung transplant 5 years ago. He is 75, scuba dives all over the country and looks fantastic.

Best wishes to you on this ordeal. Faith and a positive attitude you appear to have in the amount that will see you through this.

Thank you Stick and Medicanman,
I will find out tomorrow if they want me to go through the eval at this time. That will get the ball rolling.
