P-51H Mustang, Shillelagh

Post by CallSignOWL »

Pronounced (shil-lay-luh) or (shil-lay-lee) depending on your accent!
WIP starts on page 15: http://www.spamodeler.com/forum/viewtop ... &start=140

This is classic airframes' tall tail mustang, in 1/48. I didnt know about these kits' reputation when I opened it, but apparently it was a doozy? Meh, Ive had worse!!

all resin cockpit, with a few additions from yours truly

I went with NMF for this bird, and picked out a few different shades. Fuselage is krylon rattle can, Wings are Testors aluminum rattlecan, and the rest were various mixtures of Testors enamels that I applied by brush

None of the H models saw wartime service, but I stuck on some WW2 markings as a sort of "What if"

Another Beaut! And very bealivable in that scheme.

Those rattle cans work well - thats how I did my P-51.

Cheers

Great build Owl. I also use rattle cans for most of my builds nowadays. And I think NMF is actually very easy with a rattle can. I like the different shades and the fact that the NMF is not shiney. Aluminum get dull fast and you replicated that perfectly.

nice work on this one, Ms. Owl! A beauty.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
