Does this mean the underside German crosses are painted on bare metal? One of the first things I did was bookmark your 2017 K-4 build and figure out which details I needed to stress. For example on the protruding snout (intake?) on the cowling the K-4 models has a heavy seam. I still may add that. Also the stowage compartment door behind the pilot seat and the small bar beneath it might be worth adding to help hide the fuselage seam as well as the cockpit seam.

Yes, the easiest way to remove that seam is to just put a simple thin piece of sheet plastic over that area of the cockpit rear. Trim and sand to fit, then paint. Easy peasy.

I agree with John’s assessment of 75/83 for the topside colors

Considering it's in 1/72 scale you could do two other options...

1 - Apply Mr Surfacer on the seam and sand when dried.

2 - Sand the seam, apply Perfect Putty, let dry and wet sand slowly the next day.

Mods - The Fermis Method (only I used a Grape soda can)



A piece of the soda can was trimmed then inserted to extend the overhang, brass rod and a small piece cut and formed to represent the stowage compartment door. I tacked these temporarily with PVA. I will use Blacksheep’s methods to fill the much smaller seam. Fingers crossed.

Thanks, Gents. I sprayed the aluminum pieces with MM Gray Primer and that is close enough to move onward to adding the seatbelts, methinks. I still gotta find the piece of plastic representing the Revi gun sight and glue it to the IP.



Also, this note is for Floki/Clint: I cut the control stick off before I did the modifications, and will replace it after the seat belts are done. I know you had a question about the strength of Mr Cement. It’s very strong, and in this case probably stronger than the plastic part.

Making progress Bruce!

One thing to note about that seam on the cockpit rear bulkhead - once the clear part is on and the frame painted it'll be even less visible.
