Hmm, that's not a bad idea. I may do that if I remember to.

Re: Modelcrazy's bench production 2020
I started a PE steps in order for the A,B and C sets. What to add to what part and when.
Just a small update. I just got 3 hours on the Akagi last night. I black based and sprayed the linoleum at the bow, most of which you won't really see once the hanger overhang is installed, and stern deck. I then proceeded to work on the stern girder system. Wow, what a delicate interlocking puzzle that is. I first had thought that it attached to the deck while one constructed it....nope. There's no reference. So, to be able to place the deck correctly, aligning with the massive posts, the assembly needs to be built on the bench first. Another issue I see is the deck at the stern is curved on the actual ship, not on the kit. I need to add some curvature to the deck to match the curvature of the delicate mass of PE. Others have done it, so can I. It's going to take a while and I'll work on it while other things are drying.

There are areas of the deck that will be masked and sprayed Sasebo Arsenal Grey A, at least that's what Hasegawa says to paint it, even though she was built in Kure. Whatever, It was their ship after all, what do I know.

Yeah, those shades of gray can be something...
But she’s looking good so far. All that PE lattice work is a serious undertaking.

I can only imagine the headache of dealing with all that PE
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall

Here's last nights attempt to recreate this beautiful ship.
I masked and sprayed the grey and added some fading. Since most of these areas will be impossible or almost impossible to spray later, I'll add some weathering tonight before adding the Hanger overhang at the bow.
Also, more on the stern girders with lots more to do.
This is the most fun kit that I can remember.

Is all that support work interconnected together like that?

Yes, it occurs to me, the difficulty will increase the further I build it up, then just for fun, there are more girders that are added to the flip side, but wait there's more! If you call now, you'll get to do it all over again for the bow.Stikpusher wrote:Is all that support work interconnected together like that?
Thank you Medicman, Blacksheep Stuart and Stick
I was going to hold off on this pic but since I'm typing here anyway, I installed the fore hanger.
The fellow I've been in contact with in South Koea just sent out the "Laser Cut Paper" kit, several pages, to replace the rest of the supports, gussets and girders for the gun tubs and overhangs etc. that are just solid plastic parts on the kit. He also sent me his build walk through. No wonder it took him 2 full years, but I don't have to design and make the parts so hopefully it won't be as long for me. I do nee to look for some PE ladders. The Hase PE set has you attach rails to the molded ladder rungs, this will never do.
Anyway, here is 3 hours worth of work including some pre painting before everything is covered. I need to stop hull construction and work on the girders while I wait for his set, the cable reel set and a ladder set to come in. I should also look for the 25mm gun replacement. There are 6 twin mounts, 3 have enclosures which I have barrels for and the other 3 are open like Bofors mounts. Just 12 crappy 25mm guns and a few Vickers MG's.
